Progressive organizer Reshma Khan and her candidate slate has been endorsed by the national advocacy group Food & Water Action in the race for Teaneck Town Council.
Khan has a long record of championing progressive issues in Teaneck, including her leading role in a successful initiative and referendum campaign to move local elections to November, which has significantly increased voter participation. All three endorsed candidates have been a vocal proponent for increased transparency and inclusive governance that respects, values and uplifts the incredible diversity within the Township. These are qualities that will be essential to running an energetic, forceful campaign to represent Teaneck.
Reshma Khan also played an important role in the successful referendum campaign to bring a renewable energy program, Community Choice Aggregation, to Teaneck residents. The implementation of this important program has been delayed in Teaneck and other towns and cities because of market conditions but will likely be implemented as market conditions improve.
“Reshma Khan has proven that she isn’t afraid to speak truth to power to advance the fight for a fairer, healthier and more inclusive Teaneck,” said Food & Water Action New Jersey State Director Matt Smith. “Reshma Khan is committed to tackling important environmental and other issues in her community and she’s articulating a vision that will motivate voters to show up this November.”
